Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager's main role is to manage the full life-cycle of specific interactive projects - hitting client objectives while remaining within budget. The Project Manager owns the vision of each project and is ultimately responsible for project success. The Project Manager works very closely with the Account Manager on the status of projects that apply to that account. The Project Manager still has contact with the client on a regular basis but the discussion will revolve around specific projects rather than the account as a whole. The following are the key items the Project Manager is responsible for on a daily basis.
- Create & Manage Detailed Project Plans & Timeline – All project managers are required to create a detailed project plan/timeline for every project. After the Account Manager delivers the scope, the PM works with the AM and internal teams to ensure all business needs are addressed.
- Create, Track & Manage Project Budget – The Project Manager is responsible for budgeting and managing multiple technical and creative teams within budget and on schedule. The PM is ultimately responsible for the overall project GPM.
- Gather and Organize Assets from Client – The project manager needs to gather assets from the clients and sub-contractors and organize these assets for development. He/she suggests alternative technical solutions to meet client requirements more efficiently, and with greater reusability. The PM works closely with the Technical Director and Creative Director to organize the project planning and ensure the proper team is in place.
- Manage and assist in QA efforts– The project manager is responsible for organizing internal QA for all deliverables (including documentation) by the proper team members and testing the project him/herself in all browsers including IE6, IE7, Safari, FF2, and FF3. The PM ensures the AM has signed off on all deliverables before presenting them to the client.
- Coordinate and manage outside services/vendors – It is the responsibility of the Project Manager to gather quotes for estimation of outside services and then to manage the work flow of these outside vendors.
Here are more details:
- Owner/Author of key client documentation: Project plans, budgets, project meeting agendas and notes, etc.
- Anticipate client needs and propose alternative technical solutions.
- Possess a knowledge base of each client's business, systems and objectives.
