ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
As a member of our development team, you will be involved in many of our build projects in which our clients require new or updated functionality for their internet properties, kiosks, or other interactive applications. We work hard to stay on the cutting edge of technology to deliver innovative solutions to our clients, and most of our projects require the team to learn something new or to be stretched in a way they hadn’t been before. As a Junior Developer focusing on Front-End development, we will expect you to work under the direction of a Project Manager and frequently a Development Lead (although sometimes you’ll need to be self-directed technically), and we’ll want you live on the user-facing side of the stack. That could mean interfacing cut HTML with what the back-end team produces, working with script frameworks like jQuery, or making AJAX calls to back-end services to provide a rich user experience. But at the end of the day, we’ll want you to be the person interfacing the HTML delivery with the code and service platform running behind the scenes.
Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating front-end and back-end needs
- Work in Photoshop to cut revised graphics into HTML images (note that you won’t be a designer!)
- Produce HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as necessary
- Integrate HTML and JavaScript into ASP.NET or PHP backends
- Adherence of produced work to web standards, internal standards, and
- Triage bugs and estimate scope of work
- Report status and needs to technical or project management
- Work with team to assure on-time delivery of projects
- Participate in project reviews and postmortemsExpertise will (hopefully!) include: Core understanding of at least one of: C#, Visual Basic .NET, Java, or PHP, expecting to work primarily within a C# environment and occasional PHP environments
- Demonstrated project-based development skills
- A computer science degree would be preferred, but is not required.
- You’ve seen HTML, CSS, and JavaScript before.
- Ability to work under someone else’s guidance and standards.
- An eager, self-motivated mind
- Great people and communication skills
Direct experience is great, but we’re not necessarily looking for someone who has been an industry insider, just someone who has been passionate about working with interactive media, who is driven to learn new products or technologies for the challenge, and can demonstrate their understanding of internet technologies. Ideal candidates will have:
- A number of sample projects, including a portfolio from previous employment or from school.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability and interest of evangelizing within and outside of the organization
- A demonstrated commitment to correctness and quality
- Ability to multitask effectively and efficiently
What matters most, Education or Experience?
At least two-years experience in doing what we do is highly preferred. Terralever prefers a minimum of a four year college education.
